Merzouga is a Moroccan town situated in the desert of Sahara, near the Algerian border. Merzouga opens on the erg Chebbi, an immense area of sand dunes in the North of the city. On the West is Dayet Srji, a seasonal, often dry salt lake in summer. When it fills again, it attracts a big variety of migratory birds and the desert, in particular warblers, nightjars and, sometimes, pink flamingos.

After a fast pick up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, cross the mountains of the High Atlas until the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, classified with the world heritage of UNESCO. See the strengthened Kasbah,used as place of turning of certain famous Hollywood epopees, such as “Lawrence of Arabia”. Benefit from one moment in the Kasbah, before making it to Ouarzazate, known under the name of “Gate of the Sahara”. , continue towards Boumalne Dadès by the valley of the Roses. On the arrival to Boumalne Dades, take the minor roads through the canyons of Dadès, while passing from superb rock formations and of the Kasbahs strengthened along the Dadès river. Continue with your hotel to dine and spend the night.

After the breakfast with your hotel, lead the“Road of the Kasbahs 1001” towards the oasis small town of Tinghir. Continue through the spectacular gorges of Todgha, by having a break to explore the canyons and to lunch in a local coffee. Continue to Merzouga to meet your caravan of camels. Then, made theexperiment of the dunes of the Erg Chebbi on the back of camel and look at the sunset changing the color of sand. Reach your camping of the desert before fallen the night and taste an authentic Moroccan dinner under stars. The local nomads will provide the entertainment and will show you how to play tam tam.
